Kerrison Rongeurs

One of the most important instruments in spinal surgery is the Kerrison Rongeur.  These instruments are manufactured by a variety of suppliers, and there are numerous tiers in the quality spectrum.  Outward appearance may be similar, but a difference can often be discerned with the feel of the instrument, the power of its bite, and the ease of squeezing the handle.  Link Kerrisons are all manufactured in Germany by craftsmen, using the highest standards of materials and workmanship.

Link Kerrison Rongeurs are available with a variety of handles: Large, Small or Micro, and Ferris-Smith.  They come in lengths from 180mm to 300mm (7 to 12 inch) and jaw sizes from 1mm up to 7mm.  There are 90 degree and 50 degree bite angles, up-biting and down-biting, and special versions with curved shanks designed to preserve the facet joint during foraminotomy.  Many of the designs are available with ejectors, while others don't contain an ejector, based upon surgeon preference.
