In today's surgical
environment, two important considerations are affected by the
SimpleClean™ technology:
- Post operative Cleaning and
Sterilization - proper cleaning of a surgical instrument requires
that all tissue fragments be removed after each procedure.
This can be a tricky process, especially with "multi-part"
instruments such as a bone punch. In fact, most scrub
technicians have had the experience of opening a sterilized
instrument tray only to find that tissue fragments remain trapped in
the instrument, even after it has been cleaned and sterilized.
SimpleClean™ Kerrison Rongeurs allow for a simple twist of
the release so that the pusher component can be lifted.
Unlike other versions, the components remain attached, so they
won't become lost or misplaced.
- In today's infection conscious
operating environment, the ability to remove all tissues within the
instrument housing prior to sterilization is being very well received.
Otherwise, is the instrument truly sterilized?
- Ease and Reliability of Use - soft
tissue and bone fragments will often cause a bone punch such as a
Kerrison Rongeur to "stick" during surgery, rendering it ineffective
or unusable. SimpleClean™ allows the components of the
bone punch to separate when necessary, so that these fragments can be immediately
removed. Separating the components is done by pulling the
handle, twisting the release, and lifting up the pusher. The
release mechanisms are color coded by jaw size.
